I wrote a book! Will you consider carrying it?

Congratulations on the publication of your book! We are proud to support local authors by carrying their books in our store and promoting them on social media when we can. That being said, we are a small business and can't always carry multiple copies of books - we don't have a lot of room! If we feel like our customer base is appropriate for the genre of your book, we are happy to order a copy of the book to test how it sells in the store, and re-order as needed. We prefer to order through Ingram or Penguin Random House, but we can consider consignment or other methods of purchasing on a case-by-case basis.

We are best able to consider carrying your book if you email us at bookelves@westsidebooks.com. Please include your name and the area where you live, the title of the book, the publication date, the ISBN, the genre and your target audience, and how you plan to promote the book. If you have a link to a website that has information about the book, please include that as well (not Amazon or Barnes & Noble, please!). Remember that we are a small business with only a handful of employees, so it may take up to a week to get a response from the manager or the owner - if you haven't heard back after a week, feel free to check in.

Can I set up a signing event at your store?

Email us! Because we use as much of our space as possible to house books, we don't have a dedicated indoor area for author events that require seating. However, we have limited use of the patio just outside that we can use in nice weather for larger events like readings, signings, and meet-and-greets. As stated, we have a very small staff, so sometimes organizing staffing for events can be a little tricky - please contact us well in advance of when you would like to have an event with us so that we can be sure that we have adequate room and staff.

If we can't make a reading/signing event happen, we have other ways to support you! We often have local authors visit the store to sign their books that we are carrying, and we are happy to take pictures to post on our social media accounts with information about you and your book. Signed books from local authors typically get a lot of attention from our customer base, so if you have the time, contact us so we can set up a good day for you to come check out the store and sign your books!
